Environmental Construction

Landstar has been a major supporter and advocate of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) construction practice. LEED construction may not be the standard of the future, but the mindset of sustainable development is transitioning into the new standard of the day. Landstar’s extensive development experience has been, and continues to be instrumental in providing our clients with LEED certified facilities that are practical, efficient as well as forward-looking.

Landstar’s environmental development history includes the construction of an 82,900 square foot people and environmentally friendly office and warehouse facility for the Government of Manitoba as well as the proposal of a 100,000 square foot LEED silver office and medical facility for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA).

LEED building certification provides a suite of development standards for environmentally sustainable construction. The hallmark of LEED is that it is an open and transparent process where the technical criteria proposed by the LEED committees are publicly reviewed for approval by the more than 10,000 membership organizations.

LEED certified buildings provides its occupants with quantifiable benefits like:

  • Lower costs of operation.
